"I play Ned Steinberger's instruments since about five years. My first
instrument was the 6-string cello - what an amazing instrument that is!
As cellist I was glued to a chair for three decades; now, finally, I am able to
move about on stage. The instrument is so versatile that I can realize anything
between Bach and Metallica.
I actually use the 6-string for my interpretation of Bach's Suit No VI, which
originally was composed for a cello with an additional e-string. A very
rewarding is the combination of the instrument with my VOX ToneLab. Whole as yet
unrealized sound-worlds open up...
The BassCello absolutely surpassed my expectations. The low end is fantastic,
and bowed it sounds beautifully rich. I always had a thing for the role of a
bass player in a band - now I can switch at will.
My absolute favorite: ebowed passages on the BassCello."
Performance of the Six Suite by Bach for Solocello in September. I will perform
in a small historical hall dedicated to Luigi Boccherini by Ludwig XIV. The
halls measurements are chosen in a way to especially compliment the cello. Suite
No. VI will be performed on the Steinberger 6-string.
ZenMan Improvisations v.2 - an improvisational project for acoustic and electric
cello and basscello involving lots of interactive electronics mainly based on
MaxMSP. This version of ZenMan should be concluded by the spring of 2011 and
immediately followed up by "ZenMan goes live", a special version of this event
incorporating the software Ableton live and Cycling 74's version of MaxMSP "Max
for live". This project will combine remixing with improvisation and target
Japan first.
52 meditations - one meditative piece for cello and electronics for every week
of the year. This project is mostly electric (bass) cello and fx. The first
