“If I had a young musician, I would get them to an Accidentals show. They set the bar for inspiration and their concerts are vaxxed and masked. Three women all playing multiple instruments insanely well, energy off the hook, and a killer drummer holding it down, this is the show to see.” – NPR

Be sure to catch these amazing women who’s compositions and performances tie together the spirit of their journey during the past two years. Tour Dates.

Captured in April 2021, at the Ann Arbor Folk Festival their poignant and touching tune Might As Well Be Gold brings together beautiful folk harmonies with rolling changes and rhythms.

“We wrote Might As Well Be Gold as a reminder of what we have in the midst of what we have lost… there is so much to be thankful for even in the darkest hour, finding gratitude every day keeps the depression at bay and gives us a sense of hope and purpose. It’s part of our mental health improvement program over Covid. It’s one of those things that we will carry forward as we exit this space and continually adjust to new situations.” – The Accidentals

Bassist and vocalist Eyvind Axelson handles the low end with his NS CR5F Omni Bass, combining complex picked passages along with ominous bowing techniques. Check out Diskord’s newest single The Endless Spiral from the album Degenerations on Transcending Obscurity Records.

This play-through video features Eyvind performing progressive technical passages with amazing bowing and percussive techniques on his NS CR5 Fretted Omni Bass.

“The Endless Spiral is a song about the unfathomable abyss of time that we all travel through. It deals with the seemingly endless, meaningless, cycles of matter, contrasted with our own meager existences. – Metal Injection

“Having first played an NS bass well over 25 years ago, while window-shopping and dreaming, I will never forget the amazing feel—the action of the strings—and, man, I fell in love. Now, I am rather ecstatic to own two of them, a CR5M Upright Bass and EU6 Upright Bass.”

We are pleased to welcome Nick Cañas to our roster of NS Artists! Cañas is a multi-instrumentalist from south Texas. Coming from a background of jazz and metal, Cañas has been able to channel these influences through the WAV RADIUS bass guitar (with his custom pick guard – which we LOVE!).

Check out his high-energy metal outfit Nautilus vs. Pangolin who are currently recording their upcoming release.

Cañas is also a content creator who makes covers, playthroughs, instructional videos, and reviews which all highlight his interpretation of the bass guitar.

“The NS Design WAV RADIUS bass is beautifully made, with some of my favorite features including the di-radial body shape, the custom EMG pickup, the bridge system, and the action I am able to achieve with this bass. I have never been able to achieve my personal “perfect action” on another bass, which makes my RADIUS bass my favorite bass of all time! I truly love my NS Design WAV RADIUS 5 string bass so much that I modified my personal bass with a beautiful hand-designed custom aged pearl pickguard.” – Nick Cañas

NS Design Artist and Electric Violinist Laurie Anderson has carved one of the most varied and storied careers as a truly unique, disparate and creative artists of the late 20th Century and recently receiving the acclaim and notoriety only a visionary as herself could receive, with her first Grammy Award in 2019 and performing as Resident Artistic Director at the SFJAZZ Center in 2020. The Chicago suburban born Laura Phillips began violin at age five and at 72 years old is still searching and pushing the boundaries with her avante-garde multimedia performances charged with pioneering electronics and eccentric improvisations.

Laurie Anderson – Resident Artistic Director at SFJAZZ Center in 2020 has made landmarked performances with cellist Rubin Kodheli and famed-bassist Christian McBride.
The concert is part of The L.A. Philharmonic’s annual jazz series.

Laurie Anderson will spend most of 2020 performing a Sunday music series starting February 3rd at Joe’s Pub in NYC as part of their 2020 Vanguard Award and Residency. “The Public is a nonprofit theater that presents plays and musical performances almost every night of the year, and aims to support New York artists by encouraging exchange across generations and mediums.” – New York Times – Giovanni Russonello

Her 2019 release of “Songs from the Bardo,” based on settings of the Tibetan Book of the Dead has garnered rave reviews in Rolling Stone and Pitchfork magazine.

Anderson received her first Grammy Award for Best Chamber Music / Small Ensemble Performance at the 2019 61st Annual Award show. Her collaboration with the heralded Kronos Quartet on the introspectively titled “Landfall” recounts her experiences with Hurricane Sandy.

First performed in 2015, this evening is a unique musical collaboration. Laurie is one of America’s most renowned – and daring – creative pioneers. She is best known for her multimedia presentations and musical recordings.

For more than twenty years, he has shared his “Loopadelica” (the method of improvising on and processing the bass live) with audiences on five continents. Jair-Rohm’s eclectic approach to the practical application of sophisticated electronics with the electric upright bass propels his newest collaboration FlowSonic to the outer limits of originality.

“My newest bass is the black satin NXTa RADIUS Bass Guitar. Again, Ned Steinberger is way ahead of the game redefining what a bass guitar is and can be. Aside from being a superbly crafted instrument in all respects, this bass is powered by “green energy”. The bass is fitted with battery-free Dual Mode Output electronics made for NS by Mi-Si™. That’s right: active electronics without batteries. Read all about this remarkable technology here.”

Currently performing and touring with bass virtuoso Shez Raja Collective, including inspiring musicians, percussionist Trilok Gurtu and guitarist Wayne Krantz, Pascal fits in perfectly with his super-charged and electric improvisations.

Pascal started his formal musical education in Auckland, NZ and soon became a staple by his teens in local Irish Rock bands. His journey has taken him to Jazz festivals the world over and numerous solo and TV performances. His folk infused vocal trio Albi and the Wolves partners Pascal with guitarist Chris Dent and upright bassist Michael Young. Their crafty and soulful songs are tinged with Bluegrass and R & B harmonies adding a twist to their New Zealand blend of modern folk music. Pascal also performs with New Zealand flautist Miho Wada and Miho’s Jazz Orchestra.

Be sure to check out Pascal shredding on his CR5 Electric Violin with Shez Raja Collective at London’s Ilsington Hall.

NS Design Artist Gianni Luminati is one of the lead members of the multi-platinum selling indie pop act Walk off the Earth. Since 2006 WOTE’s viral and intriguing videos have captured the world over. Reimagining popular music’s most revered and coveted songs, Gianni and company have truly made a mark for themselves, inspiring many musicians to push the envelope of creativity by implementing non-traditional instruments in non-traditional roles of pop music.

Gianni says, “We have always been a huge fan of the Steinberger Electric Bass Guitar. When we found out Ned had started a new endeavor with NS Design, we were intrigued. We knew his attention to sound quality and detail was something we would see when we got our hand on these instruments.”

Check out Gianni and Walk Off The Earth joining Lisa Loeb on her 90’s smash hit Stay.

Gianni plays the WAV4 Omni Bass, WAV5 RADIUS Bass Guitar and the NXT5a Fretted Electric Cello.
