The WAV proudly shares the same elegant, modern body design, ergonomics and performance support options of its companions in the NS line.

The WAV’s Polar pickup system includes a convenient toggle switch between Arco and Pizzicato mode. Use the Arco mode for a traditional acoustic response for either bowing and a percussive plucked sound, or switch to the Pizzicato mode for uniquely even and sustained plucked sound, opening up new dimensions to the sound pallet. The piezo-powered passive electronics deliver an amazingly natural tone with unlimited overhead for extraordinary performance without the need or hassle of batteries.

The solid maple body and neck with a graduated fingerboard, delivers the rich, full tone you expect from every NS Instrument. The WAV Series brings the same clarity and fullness with every note. Asymmetrical fingerboard relief and an adjustable bridge and two-way truss rod allow the player to tweak the neck relief and string heights to suit the music and personal playing style.

Compact and lightweight, the WAV Double Bass is an excellent instrument for musicians on the move. It comes equipped with a stand, and padded gig bag that carries the instrument with a handle and strap and includes separate pouch compartments for storing the stand, bow and accessories. The loaded gig bag will fit in the overhead compartment of most commercial aircraft. An optional hard-shell flight case is available for the WAV Double Bass.

NS Electric Strings and most traditional acoustic strings fit all NS Double Basses, allowing the player to select from a wide range, each with a unique sound and feel. In combination with the easy adjustment of basic set-up parameters, the WAV Series Bass is adaptable to virtually any style of music.

Light weight and good balance are the essential comfort factors for any electric violin. The fully carved interior of the NS WAV Electric Violin keeps the weight to the minimum, and the body mounted tuners bring the center of gravity back over the shoulder where it belongs. The WAV includes the Custom Shoulder Rest, which allows you to shape and adjust the padded base to the contours of your shoulder and chest, for a secure and comfortable fit. Also included with the instrument is the ergonomically contoured ebony chin rest, designed to work in tandem with the Custom Shoulder Rest for control, comfort and security.

The WAV Violins include a graduated ebony fingerboard, a smooth and fast neck, and a removable bout for accurate position reference. The Omni is designed for the Bass Player looking for upright bass performance characteristics, as well as for upright bassist looking for a more portable performance partner. With its familiar 34 inch bass guitar scale, the bass uses identical fingering to that of the conventional bass guitar, yet delivers dynamic new plucked and bowed sounds for the serious bass guitarist seeking an expanded expressive range. This radical electric bass combines the tonal purity of the acoustic upright with the awesome power of the full-blown electric, resulting in the most versatile bass on the market today.

From punchy, percussive attack to smooth, singing sustain, the CR Omni Bass’s exclusive Polar piezo pickup is the only system that allows the bassist to control the attack and decay of the plucked string. EMG™ magnetic pickups add classic electric sounds. The on-board pre-amp, EQ, and mixer allow the player full control of this wide tonal palette right from the instrument.

The fingerboard also features the TransRadius™ profile. For a left-hand feel which is familiar to the experienced bass guitarist, the radius at the nut is 9-1/4 inches. At the end of the fingerboard near the bridge, however, the radius is just 2 inches, large enough to maintain good string-to-string articulation with the bow, yet still comfortable for pizzicato (plucked/picked) style. This WAVa Prototype Violin, with active output electronics, embodies physical elegance, tremendous ease of play, and amazing tone. This electric violin sets a high standard for performance and versatility in any setting. Good ergonomics, including light weight, are critical performance factors for any electric violin and this one-of-a-kind prototype violin features high gloss finish, NXTa active/passive electronics and has dots as position markers on the fingerboard.

The violin includes the Custom Shoulder Rest, which allows you to shape and adjust the padded base to the contours of your shoulder and chest, for a secure and comfortable fit. Also included with the instrument is the ergonomically contoured ebony chin rest, designed to work in tandem with the Custom Shoulder Rest for control, comfort and security. Dual Mode Output – The dual mode signal output electronics of this violin takes convenience, versatility and performance capability to another level.

Active Mode – Using the supplied charger, connect the violin to any AC outlet for 60 seconds. This will fuel the capacitor-powered active circuit for 16 hours from the time of the charge. The instrument can then be plugged straight into any low or high impedance device, no direct box necessary. Since there is no signal loss over the full frequency spectrum of the instrument, the fundamentals of every note remain clear and strong, even with extra-long cables.

Passive Mode – The violin can be played in this mode with an amplifier with an impedance of 1 meg ohm or greater (3-10 meg ohm recommended) or with a direct box.

The NXTa RADIUS brings together brilliant ergonomics of the headless neck and body configuration, the NS self-clamping tuning system, custom NS/EMG™ pickups, volume-volume-tone controls, and battery-free Dual Mode Output electronics made for NS by Mi-Si™. The EU Electric Upright Bass is made in the Czech Republic to the exact specifications of the original US Series instrument. The revolutionary design is molded with concentric laminations of graphite and rock maple that run the entire length of the instrument for maximum sonic integrity. The back of the neck is curved inward to follow the arch of the fingerboard, resulting in a slim, easy to play neck with full access to the upper register.

The Polar™ Pickup System, with its ability to respond to lateral and vertical vibration separately or both at once, is uniquely suited to an instrument that is both bowed and plucked. A fabulous bowed response and drum like pizzicato attack are characteristic of the lateral mode, while the sustained pizz. response of the vertical mode creates a new dimension for the upright bass. CONCENTRIC NECK, BODY, AND PEGHEAD: The back of the neck is curved inward to follow the arch of the fingerboard, creating a broad recess for the thumb that gives the neck a slim, fast feel for its entire length and ensures structural integrity from neck to body.

PICKUPS: The unique Polar pickup, a bridge-mounted piezo pickup system, senses both lateral and/or vertical string vibration. NS Fusion Neck

The RADIUS features a bolt-on one-piece maple neck with continuous carbon fiber reinforcement and steel double-action reinforcing truss rod. This combination has the natural feel of wood, but the core provides enhanced sustain and definition to each note. The fingerboard has a 15″ radius, and a 34” scale. Heavy conventional tuning machines are replaced by an aluminum headplate with ball-end string mounting slots. The tuning system is integrated into the body.

NS Diradial™ Body

The RADIUS’s maple body, with flamed maple top, has a concave back radius, which provides enhanced contact and stability against the torso. The front of the instrument is more tightly radiused, which, in combination with the general wedge shape of the body, shifts it into more comfortable orientation with the right hand. The distinctive horn provides a natural grip, and the configuration of the body cutaway provides easy access to the highest frets.

The instrument as a whole is perfectly balanced, no downward dip of the neck, giving left hand unprecedented freedom. Combined, the shape, balance and light weight of the RADIUS, makes this instrument exceptionally comfortable to play.

NS Patented Tuning System (US Pat. # 7,485,785)

The RADIUS has a selfclamping, precision tuning machine, built into the body. This fast, simple system accepts any standard single-ball end, full-scale bass guitar string. No tools are needed: simply rotate the knurled knob to change a string or tune the instrument.

NS/EMG™ Integral Pickup System

NS Design and EMG have collaborated to create this integrated piezo and magnetic pickup system. It features an 18V onboard preamp, which provides extraordinary dynamic headroom. The active electronics are combined with the NS bridgemounted Polar™ pickup system, the marriage of which puts an exceptionally broad, musically rich spectrum of tone at the player’s fingertips.

Controls and Adjustments

The controls on the RADIUS bass give the player full ability to shape and mix the magnetic and piezo output: Master Volume, active Treble cut/boost, active Bass cut/boost, rotary magnetic/piezo pickup blend, 3-position magnetic pickup selector switch, and 3-position piezo EQ switch.

CELLO END PIN STAND: The optional Cello End Pin Stand has traditional knee and chest contact points for seated play. The height, knee rest position and instrument angle are adjustable. The knee rest folds so the stand fits in the gig bag. Weight is 1.36kg (3 lbs.).

TRANSPORT

GIG BAG: The standard gig bag with handle and shoulder strap, has a padded inner case for the instrument and a zipper pouch for the tripod stand. It also has a bow compartment and storage pocket with room for accessories. 99 cm (39″) long; 18 cm (7″) in diameter. Loaded weight is 5 kg (11 lbs.), including stand. Fits in the overhead luggage compartment of most commercial aircraft.

ACTIVE ELECTRONICS: Dual mode preamp allows the player to choose between two distinct tone qualities: (1) the extended frequency response of modern low impedance electronics, for full-blown “electric” sound, and (2) active electronic shaping to replicate the frequency response of the traditional violin, for a more “acoustic” sound. A three-way toggle switch allows the player to select the desired pickup and electronics options.

The contoured ebony chinrest is designed to work in tandem with the Custom Shoulder Rest. As an option, the violin can also attach to NS Design’s revolutionary Balanced Shoulder Rest, which secures it effortlessly in optimal playing position and is ergonomically designed to support the instrument securely without the left hand. Knobs are located within easy reach of the right hand so adjustments can be made with the instrument in playing position. The optional Adjustable Chin Rest offers a range of positions for individual fit, style and comfort, providing entirely new levels of ergonomic support.
