I’m a violinist and a violist. The 5 string violin essentially is a hybrid between these two instruments. Getting the low C string from the Viola to sound right on the smaller scale of a full size Violin is something that most companies hit a brick wall with. Not NS! They set the bar for how an extended range instrument should sound. A natural extension of the instruments range. Other huge pluses for me are the tuning stability that comes from the built in tuners, zero feedback and my favorite feature is just how smooth the sound is. Simply, the expansion of the range of the instrument has created overtones not heard in 4 string violins or violas. It’s sooooooo good!—Jake Clayton
Jake Clayton is a professionally touring musician, a recording artist, an accomplished studio musician, a music producer, and a songwriter.
As a musician, Jake Clayton is a multi-Instrumentalist that plays over 20 Instruments and is currently the fiddle, steel, and dobro player for Country Music legend Tanya Tucker. Having played for multiple Country artists, Jake has traveled all around the globe as a utility musician on tours headlined by Country Music stars such as Garth Brooks, Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert, Dierks Bentley, and Alan Jackson (to name a few). He has performed on stage with artists like Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, & Trisha Yearwood, and he’s played on legendary stages like The Grand Ole Opry & Madison Square Garden. Most recently, Jake appeared in the band for Tanya Tucker on CMT’s Smashing Glass, CMT’s Summer Sessions, Austin City Limits, & The CMA Awards.
As a studio musician, Jake has recording credits on albums by Donny Osmond, Chris Young, Thompson Square, Joey & Rory, Tanya Tucker, and many more. In 2021, Jake Clayton co-wrote “Dirt Around the Tree”, a single by Candi Carpenter that was produced by and features 18x Grammy nominated star Brandi Carlile.
On top of these achievements, as an artist Jake Clayton has spent over a decade crafting and honing in on his own genre-bending blend of Country Rock music. The songs on his current album “Signs” have collectively accumulated over 220,000 streams on Spotify with 2 of the album’s videos receiving airtime on TCN (the Country Network). On all of his releases Jake either writes or co-writes every song, and he performs nearly all of the Instruments, including lead vocals and most vocal harmonies. With his own band, Jake Clayton has opened for hitmakers Cole Swindell, Jon Pardi, Tanya Tucker, Granger Smith, Kane Brown, Colt Ford, David Allan Coe, and more. In 2022 he was a featured performer on StarVista’s Country Music Cruise.
