After seeing artists like Geddy Lee with his L2, then later Tony Levin with his EUB, I became obsessed with Neds designs. I was never a traditionalist for aesthetics. The tone and the feel were what mattered to me more. It took me years before I stumbled upon my NXT5 and it immediately became a big part of my rig. When I first played my fretless Radius CR6, I had never felt as comfortable with something that sounded so good. It had every tone I needed and became my #1 instantly. The only thing I could have possibly been missing was taken care of shortly with the addition of a fretted CR6. I take all 3 NS instruments on every tour and to every studio session and have received nothing but compliments on the sound as well as the obvious questions “what is that thing?”, ” How do you tune it?”, and “Why do you need so many strings?”—Rob Hendricks
Rob Hendricks is a multi-instrumentalist and writer based in Columbus, Ohio. He is primarily a bassist, but can be seen on stage and heard in the studio singing, playing guitar, keys, and most recently, banjo. An NS Design Cello might soon be next
His early musical education included devouring influences from everything he heard regardless of genre or even instrument. His first recording session at the age of 15 had him hooked on studio work and he would have been perfectly happy doing just that forever. However, he became just as hooked on playing live soon after. Since then, Rob has toured and recorded in almost every genre and played on stages and orchestra pits across North America, as well as in Europe.
He also started teaching in college and has continued to do so, stressing the fundamentals of theory and the role that the bass plays in the band and practices what he teaches with his own playing. Rob can currently be seen touring with country artist Julia Neville, and the duo Painless Parkers Mental Circus. He uses and endorses NS Design basses, DR strings, Revo guitar straps, Pig Hog cables, Acoustic Attak picks, and Music Nomad.
